Eastern Drum And Breaks is the label’s first release, a collection of 12 tracks recorded exclusively for Nasha by various artists. The album received rave reviews with tracks frequently being played on BBC Radio 1’s Bobby & Nihal Show, and BBC Asian Network.

The opening track ‘Freedom’ was featured on the ‘Bassline Pressure’ CD mixed by MJ Cole for Muzik Magazine. Three tracks from the album were more recently selected by Nitin Sawhney for the new Fabriclive CD. The album was launched at Fabric, London by Ges-e and a host of Nasha DJs with guest DJ Nitin Sawhney.

Nasha soon began a monthly residency at the renowned club Herbal, in East London’s trendy hotspot Shoreditch and became the only clubnight in London that focused on tabla driven breaks and soulful eastern soundscapes. It has been this unique quality that has generated a positive response with both the press and the public.

DJ Magazine called the night ‘One of the top 10 nights in the land’ and it regularly features in Time Out's Critics Choice.

about

Nasha Records was launched in January 2003 by DJ and producer Ges-e as a response to a lack of heavy eastern breaks on the dance scene. It is a platform for heavy breakbeats blended with classical Eastern rhythms.

Ges-e is one of the original DJs who, along with Talvin Singh played at the infamous Blue Note Club, London for the legendary Anokha sessions. He has produced several tracks for the hugely successful award winning ‘Outcaste New Breed UK Album’ in 1998 and has completed remixes for various artists, most recently along with Osmani Soundz a track titled ‘The Search’ (V2) by Mercury Music Award nominee Nitin Sawhney.

It has been this unique quality that has generated a positive response with both the press and the public. DJ Magazine called the night ‘One of the top 10 nights in the land’ and it regularly features in Time Out's Critics Choice.

The Nasha label seeks to promote and establish the particular style of music. It is aimed at anyone who is interested in experimental breakbeat and Drum & Bass.
