about

Nasha Records latest input into the club scene has a point to prove. With the ever developing sound, and increasing popularity of Dubstep and Drum and Bass; this third album forces you to realise the Nasha crew's power of evolution.

Throughout the last two volumes we have witnessed the harnessing of the contrasting sounds of electronic and classic Indian music. This accomplishment provided the springboard on which the artists could venture into a deeper kind of sound. And their innovative achievements have not gone unnoticed. 100 Colours by The Nasha Experience and Sukh Knight's Cop Killer and Knightlife have all been given air time on Radio 1 - demonstrating the record's wide appeal. Rinse FM, 1xtra, Pyro Radio and BBC Asian Network have also added their support in playing some of these songs; revealing the unique duality of the label - its attraction to the specialised and commercial end of the market.

The popularity of Chase and Status' floor-filler, Eastern Jam, shows how the scene is now ready for the Nasha sound. Ges-e and Sukh Knight's epic song, Vengeance, not only has the explosive impact necessary of the first track on the album, but is also an explosion of musical subtleties and exhibits how the Eastern mix should be done. The dreamy sounding strings combine with a more sinister reverberating bass line, injecting a complexity and depth of feeling into the track.

The artists' contemporaries have also been big on giving their support for the work. N-type, Starkey, Luke Envoy, Nitin Sawhney, Plastician, Friction, Fabio, Nerm and Talvin Singh all have been quick off the mark to give the record their seal of approval.

This amount of attention is no wonder due to the versatility and originality of the album. Amongst the grimier Dubstep are more playful, funky sounds and the euphoric, liquid tracks; like The Nasha Experience and Swati Natekar's song Dayam. With each tune a subtle shift in atmosphere is maintained and progresses - enforcing the fact that Vol. 3 is a complete work in itself whilst also belonging to, and being a product of its roots.

Truly innovative and truly intoxicating, this sound is raring to go.
